A tank of the U.S. army is checked after having been pulled out of the Rhein by a tow truck near Oppenheim on the 8 January 1963. Just before, the tank fell into the ice-cold Rhein while trying to climb the icy river bank. Three soldiers drowned, five could save themselves.
