Men of the Reich Labour Service in a camp in East Friesland on their way to the sports field for tree trunk gymnastics (undated). The Reich Labour Service was founded in 1935 under the impression of unemployment and obliged all Germans from the age of 18 to 25 to a period of six months of labour service. After the beginning of the war, the obligated men were deployed as construction troops of the Wehrmacht.
