The accused Heinz Barth (r) with his lawyer Dr. H. Graubner. In the East-Berlin municipal court began the trial against former SS-officer Heinz Barth on Wednesday 25th of May 1983. Barth was accused of participating in the massacre at the French village of Oradour-sur-Glane in 1944 and also for additional war crimes in Czechoslovakia. Barth disappeared after 1945 but was discovered and arrested in the German Democratic Republic in the fall of 1981.
