Procès du massacre d'Oradour-sur-Glane

Survivors of the SS-massacre of the French village of Oradour-sur-Glane serve as witnesses in the trial against former Nazi-lieutenant Heinz Barth(left, half covered). Upon entering they were trying to make eye-contact with him and during the witness testimonies 80-year-old Martial Macheter (far right) kept on looking at Barth. The picture was taken on 31st of May 1983. Barth was accused of participating in the massacre at Oradour-sur-Glane in 1944 and also for additional war crimes in Czechoslovakia. Barth disappeared after 1945 but was discovered and arrested in the German Democratic Republic in the fall of 1981. The trial took place in East-Berlin.
