Orvieto, Basilica Cattedrale di Santa Maria Assunta (o Duomo), interno, zona absidale: la vetrata realizzata da Giovanni di Bonino nel 1328-1334. Le membrature del finestrone (m.16,30) incastonano i quarantaquattro pannelli della vetrata gotica raffiguranti la vita di Maria e di Cristo con il busto del Redentore benedicente circondato dai simboli degli Evangelisti e sormontato dal Cherubino mistico. I singoli episodi delle storie, dipinti su fondo azzurro entro schemi architettonici, sono intramezzati dalle figure dei Profeti, rappresentati con notazioni paesaggistiche su fondo rosso.



[ENG] Orvieto, Basilica Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta (or Duomo), the interior, apse area: the window made by Giovanni di Bonino in 1328-1334. The forty-four panels of the Gothic window depict the life of Mary and Christ with the bust of the blessing Redeemer surrounded by the symbols of the Evangelists and surmounted by the mystic Cherub. The single episodes of the stories, painted on a blue background within architectural schemes, are interspersed with the figures of the Prophets, represented with landscape notations on a red background.
