Sassuolo, Este Ducal Palace, the Bacchus Gallery: "Bacchus tames the tiger that the persecutor Juno sent against him". The faux tapestry depicting a river landscape dominated by a large tree in the centre, is raised by a putto on the left who indicates the scene. In the foreground Bacchus astride the tiger that Juno sent him. The goddess observes the scene from the clouds. It is one of the forty-one panels with scenes painted by Jean Boulanger which narrate the events of Bacchus. Wall tempera painting, 1650 - 52.
