Sassuolo, Este Ducal Palace, the Bacchus Gallery: "Bacchus fighting with the snake sent to him by Juno". The faux tapestry with the vast rocky landscape is lifted by a putto who remains partially hidden by it, while to the side, another putto holds onto the edge. In the foreground, left in front of a large tree, Bacchus strikes the snake that sent Juno against him with a vine branch. It is one of the forty-one panels with scenes painted by Jean Boulanger which narrate the events of Bacchus. Wall tempera painting, 1650 - 52.
