Burning the rumps at Temple Bar, London, 1726; the London populace, disgusted with the Rump Parliament which assembled after Oliver Cromwell's death, burnt rumps of beef in the streets with cries of no more rump. This image formed Plate 11 of William Hogarth's illustrations to Samuel Butler's Hudibras.
