View across the River Thames towards the Palace of Westminster from Lambeth Bridge, c1945-c1965. Street lamps mounted on a stone pillar at the top of steps down to the floating Lambeth Pier. Opposite are the Houses of Parliament, with scaffolding visible round Victoria Tower. The first bridge between Westminster and Lambeth was constructed in 1862, but was replaced in 1932 by the present structure.
