Kenwood House, Hampstead, London, 1989. The north front of Kenwood House, at the top of Hampstead Heath. The central section has a columned portico, with symmetrical wings extending forward on either side. The house and lawn are in shadow. Kenwood House was remodelled by Robert Adam in the neoclassical style between 1764 and 1773 and was bequeathed to the nation by the brewing magnate, the first Earl of Iveagh, in 1928. It houses the Iveagh Bequest, the most important private collection of paintings ever given to the nation, containing works by Rembrandt and others.
