Prisoners' graffiti at Dover Castle, Kent, 1994. Dover Castle was on occasion used to house prisoners of war. Around 1500 were imprisoned here during Marlborough's campaigns in the early 18th century. The names of French prisoners are carved into the walls of the keep.
