Detail from the Albert Memorial, Kensington Gardens, London, 1998. A white marble frieze runs around the base. Michelangelo is seen here from the sculptors frieze on the west side. The Albert Memorial was designed by George Gilbert Scott as a national memorial to Prince Albert, and it was opened in 1872. The Memorial was restored in 1994-98.
