Cannonballs at Portland Castle, Weymouth, Dorset, 1998. Cannonballs are piled in readiness on the Gun Platform. A cannon stands in an embrasure opposite. Portland Castle was built as an artillery fort by Henry VIII in the 1540s to protect Weymouth harbour against French and Spanish invasion.
