Kennet and Avon Canal, Sydney Gardens, Bath, 2002. The public pleasure grounds were opened in 1795; they were acquired by the city council and became a public park in 1913. Sydney Gardens is hexagonal in plan, with a boundary wall, which was built in 1880. The picture shows the canal that was cut through the grounds in 1810.
