'View of Greenwich', c1625. Panorama showing London in the distance, taken from above Queen Elizabeth's College and close to the London to Dover Road. St Paul's Cathedral and Southwark Cathedral can be seen in the distance on the left, and ships on the River Thames snaking round to Greenwich. The Queen's House is shown, with people walking in parkland, and agricultural labourers ploughing and tending sheep. This is the earliest painted view of London from a distance showing its setting in the landscape.
