Astley's Royal Amphitheatre, Lambeth, London, before 1895. Philip Astley opened the Astley's Amphitheatre in 1777. The amphitheatre mixed circus with theatre, having a circus ring attached to a stage and featuring circus tricks which horses. The amphitheatre was renowned for its historical military and equestrian dramas until its destruction in 1895.
