Paul before Felix, Plate III, (mid 18th century?) Artist: William Hogarth
Légende
Paul before Felix, Plate III, (mid 18th century?). Paul, with his hands chained, stands before the governor Felix, defending himself. A Roman soldier to the right of Paul leans against his spear looking very bored. Two men at the feet of Paul listen to him and take down what he is saying. On the left of Felix a man leans his head on his hand looking as if he has heard enough. The caption says that Felix trembled as Paul talked of righteousness, temperance and judgment.
