Carlos Sainz, 1989. Pictured here during the 1989 RAC Rally, in which he finished second. Sainz made his World Rally Championship debut in 1987, and won the Championship twice, in 1990 and 1992, on both occasions driving for Ford. When he won the Cyprus Rally in 2000, he achieved his 23rd victory, a World Championship record.
