Ernest A Claremont. Co-founder with Henry Royce of FH Royce and Company at Cooke Street, Manchester, 1884. He became the first Chairman of Rolls-Royce Limited when it was formed in 1906 and served in that capacity for many years. A close relative became the company's solicitor and Claremont & Haynes remain the Company's solicitors to this day.
