Tazio Nuvolari driving a 3 litre Auto Union in a Grand Prix, 1939. Nuvolari was one of the legendary figures of the 'golden age' of motor racing in the 1930s. The 'Flying Mantuan' as he was known, moved to car racing in 1924 after a successful career racing motorcycles. His skill and daring took him to 200 major race victories and he was European Grand Prix Champion in 1932. He joined Auto Union in 1938.
