A 1926 Lancia Lambda 6th series. This long-chassis, 6th series example with seating for six, was for the Dutch aviator Anthony Fokker. With sliding pillar independent front suspension and unitary construction, the Lambda was acclaimed as revolutionary when introduced in 1922. Fine performance and handling meant that it was often looked upon as a sports car, though the manufacturers regarded it as a touring car. 13,000 Lambdas were produced in nine series between 1922 and 1931. Vincenzo Lancia formed his own company in 1906, following a very successful racing career. Lancia is now part of the Fiat empire.
