'A Gentle Vegetarian', 1869. A mighty hippopotamus displays its huge teeth. It is, however, as the hippo points out, the delicate lady on the other side of the cage who feasts on flesh, whereas the hippo feeds more daintily on rice. From Punch, or the London Charivari, March 6, 1869.
