Légende
'A Cry from Christendom', 1882. England illustrates the outrage of the people to Russia. In the background, Russians are seen murdering Russian Jews in vast numbers. This relates to the atrocities carried out upon the Jewish citizens of Russia in the summer months of 1881. The Times commented that such brutality and inhumanity had led to Russia losing many of her finest citizens and Punch accompanied this cartoon with a long poem condemning such acts of violence. From Punch, or the London Charivari, January 28, 1882.
