View of the Parish Church of West Hackney, London, c1860. West Hackney Church, on the east side of Stoke Newington Road, was one of nine churches, built with money from the Portuguese government, which were not originally given dedications. From about 1881 it was often known as St James, West Hackney. It was bombed in 1940 and the post war replacement church was dedicated to St Paul.
