Five women and a child wearing the latest autumn and winter fashions, 1864. The women in blue and purple are wearing fitted coats that match their dresses. The alternative to this was to wear a mantle which was a looser garment and able to fit over the volumnious skirts that were so fashionable. An example of this can be seen worn by the centre woman.
