View of the Port of London Authority building, Tower Hill, London, c1930. Established in 1908, the Port of London Authority has responsibility for the Tideway of the River Thames, which extends from Teddington Lock as far as Clacton-on-Sea and Margate. The building was designed by Sir Edwin Cooper and built between 1912 and 1922. As a result of dock closures, it was sold in 1971 and the Authority moved to smaller offices in St Katharine's Dock.
