The Ypres Tower, Rye, East Sussex, c1990-2010. Fort built in 1250, later converted into a house in 1430 and also used as a gaol and mortuary. Rye Castle, also known as Ypres Tower, was built in 1249, in Rye, East Sussex, England, was built under orders of Henry III who gave permission as part of the defense against frequent raids by the French. Owned by English Heritage it is a Grade I listed building.
