The Old Bridge and Footbridge, Chantry Place, Morpeth, Northumberland, c1955-c 1980. The Old Bridge and Footbridge, spanning the River Wansbeck, with the chantry in the background, seen from the south. Part of the footbridge were first built in the 13th century, including the central pier and abutments on either end, with the rest built in 1869 by Swinney Bros after public subscription was raised. Only a central triangular cutment remains from the medieval build. The bridge has iron railings with four rails, and a lamp over four, curved posts with scroll decoration. On the bridge are some pedestrians, and in the background is Chantry Place, with the bellcote of the chantry visible.
