Collieries, c1805. Pithead scene at a coal mine. At the bottom a horse whim is raising coal from the pit and a man is breaking coal with a pick. At top left coal is being weighed in a balance and loaed onto a cart. On the right coal is being weighed in on a balance mounted on a trolley.
