Kro-Flite golf ball, 1922. Spalding's most popular ball, the Kro-Flite, was made with a mesh surface in 1920, and a dimple pattern, originally developed by William Taylor in 1905, seen here in 1922. The dimple or recessed cover was thinner than the mesh.
