Légende
Qingbai eight-panelled globular ewer, Northern Song dynasty, China, 11th century. An undecorated qingbai wine ewer with eight slightly concave panels. There is a double strap, high looped handle on the shoulder, and a long, faceted spout opposite the handle curving slightly outward. The slightly raised sections of the ewer are accentuated with an incised line on the shoulder and near the base. The hexagonal foot has spur marks. A tall neck of octagonal shape rises between handle and spout. The tall cover of octagonal form is surmounted by a band of eight flanges and topped by a roundel. The cover has two holes for attaching a string. The glaze is of fine bluish colour, the body white and sugary.
