Qingbai melon-shaped ewer, Northern Song dynasty, China, c1100. A ewer in the shape of a melon with a long outward-curving spout, the stopper shaped as the end of a melon stalk. The thinly potted body is covered with a blue qingbai glaze. The base shows several spur marks. The shape and design of this ewer were used in Korean and Japanese ceramics.
