Blue and white fish bowl in Ming style, Yongzheng period, Qing dynasty, China, 1723-1735. A large blue and white fish bowl in Ming style with a wide mouth, the rounded sides tapering to a raised band around the base. It is painted with stylised petal lappets radiating from the shallow ring-foot, below a broad frieze of six meticulously drawn fruiting and flowering branches including peaches, pomegranates, lotus and peony, each rising from a lingzhi sprig. The narrow shoulders with trefoil lappets pendant from a collar of wave scrolls at the base of the plain moulded lip. The underglaze blue is of vivid tone with extensive heaping and piling to simulate the 15th century prototype. The base with underglaze blue 6 character seal mark.
