Jardiniere with glaze imitating pudding stone, Qianlong period, Qing dynasty, China, 1736-1795. A jardiniere of squared form, the body of lozenge shape with wide flared mouth. The whole piece stands on angular ruyi shaped legs, the interior has four holes pierced at the corners, enamelled overall to imitate pudding stone in tones of brown. This piece is likely to date to the second half of this reign, when ceramics copying other media were increasingly made.
