Patterned gourd, China, mid-late 17th century. Qing dynasty gourd with reddish brown patina moulded in low relief over the whole body with a double gourd vine pattern with carved details. There is a four-character mark on the base that reads 'Kangxi shang wan' meaning 'made as a plaything for Emperor Kangxi'.
