Jade double-humped camel, Tang dynasty, China, 618-906. A double-humped camel in yellowish green and brown jade. The camel is lying down and with its head at rest, the ears are leaflike and the eyes, mouth limbs and hoofs are grooved with simple lines. The two humps take advantage of the change in colour of the stone - the second being mottled brown.
