Légende
Jade bird vessel in Warring States bronze style, Southern Song-Yuan dynasty, China, 12th-14th century. A jade vessel designed as a standing bird, its tail curled between its legs, its wings turned up. The body is hollowed out to form a container. The head and beak of the bird have slits so that the object could be used as a water dropper. There are incised feathers and the jade is of pale celadon colour with several brown inclusions.
