Jade five-clawed dragon with feathered tail in cloth wrapping, late Ming dynasty, China, 1550-1644. A compact jade pebble carving of a five-clawed two-horned dragon. The dragon is depicted with a tightly curled up tail making a figure of eight, the tail end being feathered. The animal is tied around with cloth and knotted, one leg protruding from the cloth. The jade is mainly of greenish white colour, but the snout and leg are brown.
