Kalong stoneware dish with calligraphic black splashes, Northern Thailand, 15th century. A Kalong stoneware dish with wide slightly everted rim and wide flat foot. The dish is decorated in the centre with black swirling calligraphic designs, possibly intended to be stylized black birds or wave design, beneath a wide band of similar designs and narrow band at the rim all painted in black under the glaze. The rim is unglazed. The reverse has similar decoration.
