Blue and white lotus bouquet dish, Ming dynasty, Zhengtong period, China, 1436-1449. Dish with everted rim decorated in the centre with a tied bouquet of lotus and reeds and five groups of dots within double line borders. The wide cavetto has four different equi-distant leafy groups with a continuous key fret band beneath the rim. The exterior has a wide band of interrupted lotus scrolls with sparse leaves and flowers. The base is slightly convex and has a heavily undercut foot. The underglaze blue is of almost black colour.
