Blue and white bowl with seascape, Ming dynasty, China, 1560-1580. Deep bowl with everted rim and small foot, decorated in the centre of the interior with a sampan in the seascape with rocky overhang. There is an undecorated cavetto and a broad band of alternating cranes and stylised spiral clouds. On the exterior are figures, pagodas and sampans in a land and seascape. This piece belongs to the Group 2 style of Kraak decoration which dates approximately to 1560-1580.
