Wooden armrest, China, c1600-1650. A wooden armrest (probably rosewood) in the form of a section of a tree trunk with pierced 'knots'. There is carving in low relief of flowering prunus and two tree shrews playing in a hollow. The piece is signed with two incised characters 'Kow Ying'.
