Boxwood brush pot with spider and snake, Qing dynasty, China, 18th century. A small irregular oval-shaped brush pot in the form of a pine tree section. The piece is enhanced with deeply carved gnarled branches, lianas, a spider and a snake. The tops of the pine sprays have emerald-coloured soapstone embellishments.
