Black lacquer saucer with landscape decoration, Qing dynasty, China, late 18th/early 19th century. A black lacquer saucer decorated with a scholar before a palace gate by a river with landscape and willow trees in the central medallion. The broad outturned rim is decorated with three 'shou' characters in circular medallions separated by floral scrolls. The decoration is done in coppery-coloured gold painting throughout.
