Bronze covered ding, late Spring and Autumn period, China, 5th century BC. A large covered bronze ding with body decorated with two bands of continuous stylized kui dragon heads separated by a notched ridge. The ding has squared 'D'-shaped handles. The cover has three plain circular rings (which serve as a stand when the cover is reversed) which are also decorated with similar kui dragon head designs in the centre and in a broad outer band.
