Bronze male dancing figure with censer, Yuan dynasty, China, 1279-1368. A bronze male dancing figure dressed in long flowing robes with long sleeves tied at the waist with a tasselled belt. The figure is depicted in a dancing position with left knee raised prominently. His left, sleeve-covered arm is raised level with his cheek and holds a tripod censer of typical Yuan form, the right hand is hanging down. The hair has a flat bun on top, a narrow fringe on the forehead and is long at the back to shoulder length. The facial features are non-Chinese with straight prominent nose. The piece is mostly covered with a thick green patina but where absent shows a reddish patination. The figure has a protruding circular plug for fixing to the mother piece group of three bronze figures, two human, possibly of foreigners and one a camel.
