Légende
White jade dancing lady, probably Tang or Liao dynasty, China, 8th-11th century. A white nephrite jade dancing lady, her arms covered by long sleeves, one swung up behind the head the other across the body to the armpit. She is wearing a Scythian style cap with flaps covering the ears, and a collar round the neck. There are incised details on the hair and costume, and there is a slight tinge of brown down one edge.
