Jade finial, Han dynasty, China, 206 BC-220 AD. A jade finial of yellowish brown flecked colour pierced horizontally for suspension nearer the rolled top most edge. The lower two thirds are decorated with a stylised taotie face. The upper third has a rolled section and convex bands and scrolling on the sides. The reverse has a deep round perforation probably for mounting on bronze.
