Aztec Turquoise Mosaic Mask.Mask representing a god, Aztec/Mixtec, Mexico, early 16th century. A turquoise and shell mask usually thought to represent the god Quetzalcoatl, although it could be a representation of Tonatiuh, the sun god. On the death of a king masks were placed over god effigies, and placed on the dead dressed for burial. From the British Museum.
