Remains of Roman Wall near Museum of London, 20th century. London Wall was a defensive wall first built by the Romans around Londinium, a strategically important port town on the River Thames. Built in the late 2nd or early 3rd century, perhaps on the orders of Clodius Albinus in his poer struggles with Septimius Severus.
